Golden - Labrador - Curly
Coated - Flat Coated - Chesapeake Bay
All breeds of Retriever are friendly,
intelligent dogs that are medium to large in size and are solidly built. The second
largest of the group but perhaps the toughest, is the Chesapeake Bay Retriever that stands
at 66cm (26 inches). He was bred for duck retrieving in his native country and so is
equipped to deal with the cold.

The Curly Coated
Retriever is just that - curly coated, that is except for his face. At 69cm (27 inches) he
is expert in the water and probably originated in England.
The Flat Coated Retriever, although standing at
61cm (24 inches) is slighter in build than the others in this group. He makes a superb
house dog and just loves people - a real tail wagger. The Golden Retriever is often seen
as a guide dog for a blind person and is in fact a real versatile animal. At the same
height as the Flat Coated, he is easy to train and a very popular breed. |
Finally we have the Labrador that can be either
black, chocolate or yellow. Another expert in the water, they are around 57 cm (22 inches)
in height and are very versatile, a great worker and a loving pet.
