 We are a small Animal Welfare Organisation that promotes canine (and other animal) health.

Cat rescue providing shelter, veterinary treatment, top quality welfare care and re-homing with new, responsible owners. All cats over 6 months are neutered/spayed and all cast and kittens receive vaccinations to prevent feline disease.
Yearly membership is £5. Members receive regular newsletters and opportunities to help in many ways.

The Sanctuary is open 7 days a week, all year round, from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Formed more than 20 years ago, Colchester Cat Rescue and Homing Society, known locally as Colchester Cat Rescue, or 'CCR', is a locally run animal charity dedicated to the rescue, care, and rehoming of cats. There is the Sanctuary, where the rescued cats are housed, fed, and cared for;and it is from here that cats are rehomed.There is also the Cat Rescue shop.

The Sanctuary, which is run by Sheila Parsonson and George Charles, was first started at Great Tey in Essex, but due to insufficient room it moved to Colchester 3 to 4 years ago. They are assisted by a team of volunteers. Visitors wishing to visit the Sanctuary with a view to rehoming a cat(s), would be advised to ring the Sanctuary first.

The Cat Rescue Shop is run by a manager, assisted by volunteers, who help run to the shop, the shop sells books, pet food and toys, pet accessories, clothes and other miscellaneous items, to help raise money to care for the cats. Items not required any more are most welcome, they can be dropped off at the shop when it is open. The shop is located on Lexden Rd, near to the traffic lights at the junction of Straight Rd and Lexden Rd, opposite the Fire Brigade workshops.

We are a small animal rescue centre for rabbits, guinea-pigs, ferrets, rats,
mice, hamsters, gerbils, birds, terrapins etc.
We have a non-destruct policy and all homes are vetted.

FAB is a charity working to improve the health and welfare of cats. It has over 50 leaflets which provide information on cat care, diseases, treatments etc.
Membership is £20 annually and members receive a quarterly FAB Journal with the most up-to-date information on feline diseases and their treatment, welfare, behaviour, courses, letters, products etc.

I also do Holiday Boarding for Guinea Pigs and Rabbits where every care is taken in large spacious hutches or indoor cages.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert their deaf owners to sounds such as the alarm clock, doorbell, or smoke alarm. Most dogs are selected from rescue centres or donated by breeders. Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a registered charity.

We are a stray dog Pound for Telford & Newport. We have a strict non-destruction policy so constantly have between 50 & 100 dogs looking for homes.
We also take unwanted birds of any sort other than Birds  of Prey and can help with cats and wildlife.

Our Policy:
We rescue animals of all types, some awaiting destruction in Welsh pounds, others handed in to us for all kinds of reasons.  We provide medical care, food, shelter and love for them all and ultimately find them loving homes.
We require all our animals to be neutered and inoculated and carry out this vital task. Our staff are always available to give advise on training or behavioural questions and are there to assist if needed.

Rescue centre run from home and dedicated to birds. Either wild or domestic (with exemption to birds of prey and sea or water fowls - not enough room for them). Trying to find good, reliable and loving homes for the unwanted smaller aviary or cage birds (budgies, cockatiels etc.). As a registered charity we depend only on public donations and any needy bird is never refused.

The NDTR provides life-long, affordable registration to dogs and cats for owners and organisations, such as the Police, Armed Forces etc.

The NCDL is the UK's largest dog welfare charity and has been protecting dogs for over a century. We never destroy a healthy dog. Our primary work is the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs in need. We care for over 11,000 dogs a year and actively campaign on dog-welfare related issues at local and national levels.
We promote responsible dog ownership through education, information and practical initiatives. The NCDL is working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from threat and unnecessary destruction.
Membership is £15 per year (£10 OAP's). Sponsor a dog for £1 per week and help pay for the upkeep of one of our long term residents who cannot be rehomed due to behavioural or physical reasons.

The Royal Veterinary College Animal Care Trust (RVC ACT) was established in 1982 under the gracious patronage of HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. The Trust’s purpose is to support the academic and clinical work of the College by raising funds to help maintain and develop: up-to-date facilities in which to train veterinary undergraduates, postgraduates and nurses; a constantly improving standard of care for the animal patients receiving treatment in its small animal and equine hospitals and large animal practice; financial support for a clinic to treat animals whose owners are genuinely unable to afford full private veterinary fees and a clinic for the care and treatment of exotic animals.
Since the RVC ACT was established many of its initial targets have been met. However, as we enter the new millennium so the demand for specialist treatment and training increases. We hope to herald the 21st Century with even better facilities in which to treat animals and train veterinary students and veterinary nurses; our hopes depend on your generosity.

I  currently have 25 pigs for adoption and other sick ones receiving veterinary, herbal and homeopathic treatment.

Support Dogs is a charitable organisation that trains dogs to assist their disabled owners. Their main area of work is in the training of 'Seizure Alert Dogs', to give a warning prior to the onset of an epileptic seizure. Support Dogs also trains Disability Assistance Dogs and Medical Assistance Dogs.
Membership is £10 annually.

We are a registered Charity and provide rescue and rehabilitation for abused and abandoned Greyhounds. Formed in 1991, we cover Western England including the Western Counties. As a general rule our dogs are not taken straight from the tracks but from dog pounds and other animal rescues.
We get all ages from puppies to 15 year olds and they all have a unique temperament and a very special way with them.
