Rare Variety & Colour BS - 2013 Club Show

The Society’s club show was, once again, held in conjunction with the Budgerigar Society Club Show in November but sadly the entries dropped slightly for the second year running. Grant Findlay judged the Rare Variety section with an entry of 28 (31 in 2012) and Rod Clarke judged the Any Other Colour with 66 entries (72 in 2012).

It was the second time that a team of Budgerigars of Colour (miniatures) were benched at the club show when Maurice Roberts entered a team of six Cobalts.

Grant Findlay judged this section and awarded the adult CC to the well known Anthracite cock of Gren & Pat Norris who eventually went on to win Best Rare in Show for the second year running. An English Fallow Grey Green cock was placed second for Ghalib & Janice Al-Nasser followed by an Anthracite hen of Mick Anzara in third place.

The young bird CC went to a Rainbow cock bred by Roger Day which was also Best Rare Young Bird overall. It was good to see a Rainbow doing so well at this prestigious show and well done to Roger who has improved this variety so much over the years. Mick Anzara was second with a Slate cock followed by Dave & Linda Rafis with an Anthracite cock

Any Other Colour

Rod Clarke judged this section and only the Clearbody, Greywing & Lacewing come under our umbrella in this section.

The Any Age Best of Colour winner was a quality Grey White hen benched by David Turner and staged in good condition. A large Easley Clearbody Grey Green cock benched by Gren & Pat Norris was in second place of good size. A bird of the Any Other Colour cock from D & E Mullally was placed in third place.

Michael & Margaret Chapman came to the fore in the young bird line up with a Texas Clearbody Light Green cock of quality. Tom & Andrew Luke occupied second spot with a Lacewing cock followed by a Greywing cock from Ron Payne.
