Rare
Variety & Colour BS - 2010 Club Show
Compiled by Gh
It was very pleasing to see an increase in entry over the past two years in both sections despite the fact that both Cy Thorne and myself were judging the show that would have amounted to a further increase in entry. The Rare Variety saw an increase to 73 (57 in 2009 & 58 in 2008) and 65 in the Any Other Colour (59 & 47 respectively).
I judged this section and awarded the adult CC to the Norwood Studs Texas Clearbody Light Green hen of good size and depth of mask. It was a strong bird and good example of the variety. John Dunnell was second with another Texas Clearbody Skyblue cock of quality and good variety content. The Rainbow cock of Grant Findlay & Nick Flavell occupied third place which was a good bird for its variety and showed the variety content well being a Cobalt.
The young CC went to the partnership of Roger Swain & Sue Ford with a Texas Clearbody Grey Green cock, a big bird for its variety that stood well while judging. Daniel Norman from the junior section benched another Texas Clearbody Cobalt cock that was placed second, benched in good condition. Another Texas Clearbody Cinnamon Mauve hen was placed third in the line up for Michael & Margret Chapman staged in good condition and won Best Rare Variety Young Bird by a Member.

Any Other Colour
Mick Widdowson judged this section and only the Greywing, Lacewing and Anthracite come under our umbrella in this section. The Anthracites were exhibited again this year thanks to Rod & Sue who benched an adult cock and hen and to Alison Carr who benched a young hen.
The Any Age Best of Colour winner was a lovely strong Lacewing White cock benched by Tom & Andrew Luke followed by their Lacewing Opaline Yellow hen. Both birds were of good quality and size with good colour and marking. Alec & Dave Woan benched a Grey Yellow cock in third place. David Turner benched a strong Greywing Grey cock in fourth place and took the award for Best Rare Variety in Show by a member.
Again two quality Lacewings for the Luke partnership occupied the first two places in the young bird line up. The best was an Opaline Yellow cock followed by their Lacewing Yellow hen both of good quality and width of head. Don Rowell & Linda Heighton occupied third spot with a quality Cinnamon Grey Yellow cock. Alison Carr was 10th best with her Anthracite hen.
